We are very pleased to announce Dr. Raed Hawa will be the next Director of Undergraduate Education in the Department of Psychiatry effective July 1, 2011. Dr. Hawa is an Associate Professor and the Director of Consultation Liaison Service at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network. He is an accomplished teacher who has received several awards for his teaching excellence including: the Helen P. Batty Faculty Development Award (2009), the American Psychiatric Association Irma Bland Award for excellence in teaching Residents (2008), the Robin Hunter Award for the best Postgraduate teacher in the UofT Department of Psychiatry (2007) and Wightman-Berris Academy Awards both for Individual Undergraduate (2008) and for Postgraduate (2007) Teaching Excellence.
I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Raed on this notable appointment and welcome him to this new role.
We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Jodi Lofchy for her two very productive terms as Director of Undergraduate Education. On behalf of everyone in the Department of Psychiatry, we thank Jodi for her excellent leadership and dedication to education in our department.
